I have no problem being assertive with complete strangers, but after an in-depth conversation I would've felt he was no longer a total stranger, and would therefore have kept quiet to spare his feelings. I kept my mouth shut because I didn't want to ruffle any feathers. And, I didn't want my friends to think I was looser. So, I acted in "bad faith" and compromised my integrity by failing to speak my beliefs. I should have had the courage to say something.
